Since summer is fast approaching we have teamed up with Virgin Active to bring you — 'Bring a Ball to Work Week' from 5-9 November. The idea is to sit on a ball at work instead of a chair. Oh, and you could win a gym contract for six months...

Want abs of steel? Don't we all... Although this exercise alone probably won't do the job, it's a good start, especially coupled with a bit of cardio beforehand. The exercise allows you to strengthen your core muscles, which will also help with all other exercises and in every day life.

Here's how to do Virgin Active's body ball ab workout:

Preparation:

Slowly roll down the ball while comfortably placing your head and neck on the ball with both feet straight ahead.

Place hands on the side of head.

Note: Do not hold and carry the head.

Movement:

Draw your lower abdomen inward toward your spine before initiating the movement.

While maintaining the draw-in manoeuvre, curl the entire spine up starting from the cervical region.

While still maintaining the draw-in manoeuvre, lower slowly as far as you can control.

Repeat recommended repetitions.

The chin should be tucked toward the chest throughout the movement.

Experiment with different arm positions to vary the level of difficulty.
