allergy to air condition
"); document.write("O my god! finally I find someone with the same problem! I have an allergy to air condition, but it is not always immediate; sometimes I start coughing and sneezing immediately, but sometimes after 15-30 minutes I start feeling pain in my nose and throat, then cough joins and if I stay in the air-conditioned room for more I get a flu-like symptoms next day. I think it could be allergy to mould that dwells in the air-condition system.. Marina"); document.write(" "); document.write("- allergy to AC - Mike J. H."); document.write("

air conditioning allergies
"); document.write("Hi there, I've also been searching the internet for allergies to air conditioning. However, I believe mine is a skin allergy. The air conditioners make my skin itch severly. I find it very difficult to avoid a/c in the summer time. I have been wondering if it's possibly an allergy to freon, but have not had much luck finding a lot of info. on it's affects to the body. It's just a thought, but I believe most a/c's use freon as a coolent. Have you been able to find any more info. on your end?. Tammy"); document.write("
allergy to AC
"); document.write("I have a similar problem, with what I believe is an allergy to AC. Everyone, including my doctor, acts as if this is nonsense. I feel tired and achy and often get a sore throat and congestion especially if the temperature is below 75 degrees.

I left work the other day, where the temperature is 70 degrees, feeling as if I was coming down with a cold. Within 2 hours of leaving the cold air conditioned environment, I felt fine.

Have you found any possible causes?. Kris"); document.write("
The quality of indoor air
"); document.write("There have been a number of studies carried out regarding the quality of indoor air such as the \"Varmland study\" and the \"Bamse study\" whereby research has done on air quality.Research shows that most allergies and asthma have strong links with poor air quality.Air conditioners generally recycle dirty air and in a central system will be distubeted throughout a building.A book 'Shortness of Breath\" a book of facts from \"Svensk Ventilation\" in co-operation \"VVS Tekniska foreningen\" has been published and a copy can be obtained from Systemair (pty)Ltd South Africa.Other useful links:-www.aaaai.org;www.asthma.org.co.uk;wwww.epa.gov;www.healthhouse.org;www.le.ac.uk/ukieg/ukieg.html;www.lunguk.org and www.lungusa.org . Allergy to Air Conditioning
"); document.write("Last Wednesday I went shopping in Marks & Spencer in the centre of Birmingham, as soon as I walked through the shop I felt my nose tingling and the back of my throat going dry, my eyes watering, I then started sneezing constantly. It is now 8 days on and I am still sneezing badly, I have a constant blocked & runny nose, it also bleeds, my ears nose & throat are sore, my bronchial tubes are sore and I am unable to have a descent nights sleep due to constant runny nose.
I have always suffered alot with allergies and years ago was prescribed Flixonase nasal spray which I use 2 sprays each nostril once a day. Unfortunately the spray does not seem effective when I come in contact with air conditioners. Is there something else anyone can recommend as I spend a third of my year suffering these symptoms?

Avoid Flixonase & other cortisone preparations
"); document.write("I speak from experience, having been on them for years. They merely suppress certain symptoms, while the underlying problem gets worse. The cortisone gradually destroys your nose (sense of smell & mucous linings).
Rather try homeopathic remedies, or even nothing at all! (Breathing steam can help).
The long term effects of cortisone are well documented, and are not good.. Daniel Garratt"); document.write("
Air Conditioning Allergy
"); document.write("Recently I went for an interview in an office with several air conditioning vents and around 30 computers. Within the first five minutes my nose tingled, my throat became sore and I started to cough. I dismissed this but when I got the job I had to leave after four days when I developed burning, stinging eyes, my sinus's started to rage and my nose bled and my chest was really very sore and congested. All in all I felt completely debilitated. I have chemical allergies also, so I reckon it's either the dry air or chemicals that are causing this. Unfortunately people with these kind of allergies fail to convince others that their symptoms really exist, and in all fairness who could blame the doubters as only someone who has an allergy could really understand these cases do happen, and this just adds to the misery of the situation. . AC
"); document.write("I have the same problem too especially here in the US where AC is used everywhere all the time and usually at a very cold temperature. I am never sick, but as soon as I get in to a place with AC, I start having pain in my throat and I am shivering and I get a cold immediately. At work I have the same problem so it makes it very difficult. Are there any remedies that could be used? I also agree with other people that say that it is hard for other people to believe what we are feeling as they seem to be perfectly fine with the AC. It is a hard situation for us...Lately I have been getting sick more frequently because of the cold draft and it looks like it is weakening my immune system and I got bronchitis now so I am not sure about how to fix this problem....
