Kids need to get in a certain amount of exercise these days with obesity taking over, but healthy kids are 'fit' on various levels. Here are five rules for your kids to live a fit life by. Prestik it to their walls and remind them every so often that a healthy life means a long life.

Get active. Activities can be fun, kids just need to figure out the ones they love — and no those are not the ones you love... If there is no sport your child likes in particular, encourage him or her to find ways to be active every day.

Eat a variety of fruit and veggies. Yes, yes... kids usually hate the greens, but being healthy means including a variety of fruit and veg into your kid's diet. Try making them smoothies with carrots and fruits or teach them how to make it themselves.

Don't overdo it! What does it feel like to be full? Tell your kids: When you're eating, notice how your body feels and when your stomach feels comfortably full. Sometimes, people eat too much because they don't notice when they need to stop eating.

Limit TV/Video game time. Limit the amount of time your kids spend watching TV or DVDs, playing video games and using the computer. The more time they spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time available for active stuff, like bike riding and swimming.

Speaking of parents, they can be a big help if you want to be a fit kid. For instance, they can stock the house with healthy foods and plan physical activities for the family. Go on, set the example...
