Question

I am thinking of taking Stanazol® to reduce body fat and increase muscle. Is this the best way to do this and what is Stanazol® and what are its side effects?

Answer

Stanazol® is a synthetic anabolic steroid and is a substance banned by most athletic organisations.

This is certainly not the best way to reduce body fat and increase muscle - there is no quick and easy way to do this. The best way is by eating a diet which is high in carbohydrate, contains medium amounts of protein and very little fat. Combine this with a high-intensity endurance exercise programme and you will lose body fat very effectively. If you want to build specific muscle groups, then speak to a trainer at your local gym about which machines to use for what.

There are significant health risks associated with taking anabolic steroids. Synthetic anabolic steroids prevent your body from secreting two vital hormones - follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). As a result, women taking these drugs find that their menstrual cycle stops, the ovaries atrophy and they may become more masculine.

Men taking these drugs find that their testicles atrophy and they may become sterile. Changes in behaviour have also been reported such as increased aggression and mood swings. There is also an increased incidence of heart attack, stroke and liver disease in those who use anabolic steroids.

Don't use drugs to try to enhance your performance or change your body type - use diet and exercise!
