There are a number of causes of painful lumps in the breast including an abcess or in some instances this could be a "normal" phenomenon. At the age of 16 it is very unlikely that this is cancer. However, you do need to have it checked out — a doctor needs to examine you for other symptoms and signs which might provide clues as to the cause of the lump and possibly even do some tests on the lump itself to find the cause of the problem.
